SF400 Series is a very rigorously tested breakwater. It is used today in all the world’s oceans. SF400 Series has been under continual development for the past 30 years and has survived all of the recent storms and hurricanes that it has been exposed to. This is due to our very unique system which has been designed to absorb and distribute stress when the loads are increasing tremendously during severe storms. Simply put, one can say that the massive oceanic forces endured by a breakwater in the SF400 series relied on their rubber couplings used in the connections to work, and not only the wires. This makes us unique and our SF400 series is clearly proven to be the finest floating breakwater manufactured today.

A breakwater is a protection for a harbor. It may be subjected to excessive force when any storm or hurricane strikes a port. SF400, a 4 meter wide concrete breakwater. Often one finds SF400 implemented as an external protection for various inner port facilities. It bears the brunt of natures forces, and ensures calm waters for the port.

Over the years we have developed our SF400 series, of which we now have several hundred installed around the world, so we have tailored solutions for the most diverse needs. We can now cast any angles whatsoever, we can equip the pontoons with virtually any device and this we can do because we basically use the same basic technical solutions that are very well tested. Our whole concept of floating breakwaters built on three principles:

1. Strong reinforcement around the anchor loops. Our anchor loops are reinforced in such a manner that the breakwater can be lifted in a single bracket.

2. Our coupling system consisting of utility wells covered with heavy steel plates, stainless steel cutouts, wires interspersed with anti-corrosive grease and heavy landscape rubber cylinders. The clutch system is also so versatile that we can make use of the center connections, to eliminate torsional loads on piers or longer to build specific angle solutions.

3.  Our mooring technique based on anchors with heavy chains and concrete anchors. The chain is shackled to the pontoons with a pin. “Bridle ring” as shown below. It is clear from the diagram below, when the power of the chains increases when the clutch way under load then the total power of “bridle ring” down forcing “up” our pontoons, which are kept apart by rubber cylinders. The more the wind blows, the more pressure forces the pontoons together.

Each breakwater is unique and therefore cast only after the client has approved the drawing, called ” shop drawing “which means that our customers get each pontoon built exactly to their specifications.

SF400 Series, like all of our breakwaters,  is doubly reinforced with the market’s thickest covering layer, which ensures a strong pontoon with very long life. The amount of reinforced concrete in a breakwater is easy to compare with others, by just to comparing weight.
